SICU SSG
SOUTH AFRICA
On a personal level, Ian has come to realize
that his true calling in life is as an entrepreneur and
visionary.
He has the ability to recognize opportunities and to take
his ideas and develop them into strategies and plans of
potentially massive profitability. To this end he is developing other
business interests including hospitality and tourism,
internet marketing, new networking models, alternative
health and wellness techniques and traditional African
herbal medicine.

|
Ian Bentley,
representing
Safrika Development Services,
started his life as a very talented draughtsman and
painter. While still an art student he won the award of
Top Local Artist at the 1974 East London Expo, to the
chagrin of some artists of international renown.
Being brought up with a strong social
conscience in South Africa during the Apartheid era, Ian’s
art suffered. He dedicated most of his first 40 years to
uplifting the poor, the weak and the disenfranchised.
After the birth of the Rainbow Nation in 1994 he focused
on resolving disputes, developing consensus, restoring
relations between communities and the police, promoting
integrated development planning and developing
entrepreneurial potential.
Safrika Development Services focuses
on community safety and crime prevention (a specialized
and important niche market, given that South Africa will
host the 2010 FIFA World Cup). A sister company, Safrika
Training Services, was recently launched to capitalize on
the opportunities that have subsequently presented.
On a personal level, Ian has come to
realize that his true calling in life is as an
entrepreneur and visionary. To this end he is developing
other business interests including hospitality and
tourism, internet marketing, new networking models,
alternative health and wellness techniques and traditional
African herbal medicine.
Ian is a maverick. He does most things
differently because he is by nature a lateral thinker,
constantly hatching new ideas, developing original
concepts and finding better ways of doing things.

LAS VEGAS
UNITED STATES
"For
the last decade my work has emerged in response to my
inquiry into solutions to the numerous challenges facing
geographical communities globally. Key among them is that
technology has given rise to communities (work colleagues,
suppliers, business partners, etc) that have little to do
with geographical proximity. Globalization has contributed
to an economic landscape with no precedence. There have
been a plethora of factors that have contributed to a
shared fear of the unknown, although that is precisely
what we are called to become cognizant of, and this is
experienced with the least trepidation through art".

|
Yvette Dubel, Cultural Fusion co-founder, Source
artist enthusiastically shares here creativity and vision
to advance the mission of SICU SSG. She is one of
the supporting forces behind the most popular
SICU ART group, and her work will add value both to
SICU and for its global partners and members even from
here on.
Mrs. Dubel studied painting.
She has been painting for more than twenty years; her work
has been shown both in solo and group exhibitions. She has
been exploring art as an intervention in community
development context for approximately a decade;
the work was influenced by
work in community mental health delivered via expressive
therapies.
She has been working with
creative expression and consciousness for two decades; her
current project unites several issues central to
sustainable development and community renewal, and has
accompanied a move into installation and digital art. This
work has been facilitated by an evolving expertise in
intangible assets such as Attention, trust, social
capital, etc.
Dubel works with researchers
in ICT, social responsibility and community renewal to
develop the definition of art based discovery models and
processes based on current Cultural Fusion-Art as
Philosophy project, also to assist in identifying issues
related to attention, quality and expression (i.e.
intangible assets) and theirpossible measurements.
